A fun and interactive way to experience the world of art, color, and texture. Students will explore their artistic talent using an array of materials and techniques. Students will create arts & crafts projects that will be brought home every 1 - 2 weeks.

The program provides a fundamental understanding of chess while engaging students in a fun learning environment. Using Lego® intelligent bricks and their interests and curiosity, students learn pseudo-coding, coding, robotics and engineering principles. The curriculum is aligned to the NYS ELA Standards and enhanced to provide challenging and thought-provoking activities in reading and writing in order to prepare for the rigor and high expectations of success. Read and analyze selected literary and informational texts Broaden and deepen comprehension and vocabulary strategies Participate in discussions using evidence to support thinking Write for a range of purposes fiction/ non-fiction Learn about organization, clarity and style in writing Use of proper grammar and conventions The test prep component of the class will empower the students and reduce test anxiety by improving their understanding of test construction and teach them the strategies used to successfully complete test items. Guitar

Students will learn the basics of guitar as we learn to play kid-friendly tunes, learn about the science of how the guitar makes all that sound, learn to jam with each other, and work our way up to learning some of our favorite modern songs. A contemporary form of jazz with a sharp, street-smart edge that will add another dimension to the students' level of performance. This class will be a condensed version of a full kindergarten day. Students will practice phonics to aid in reading, spelling, review sight words, writing and math curriculum. Let's Dance!

Mandarin

Monday Class: This class is for Kindergarten students who are new to Mandarin or have had some exposure in the past. The lessons will expose students to many aspects of the Chinese Language: sound, shape, cultural context. Instruction will be theme-based and highly communicative.

Tuesday Class: This class is designed for learners in grades 1 and 2, who are new to Mandarin or have had some exposure in the past. For example if the student has taken Mandarin during afterschool in a previous semester. This class will build on topics appropriate for their age and interest, to help them develop interest in the language while making progress in understanding and speaking Mandarin. Instruction will be theme-based and highly communicative.

Group piano classes are an excellent introduction to beginner piano and basic musical concepts. Through singing and playing, students will learn music at a comfortable pace. Activities include, but not limited to, learning musical alphabet, playing games and exercises, learning basic music theory & reading music. During this course students will explore solo elementary pieces as well as piano duets with our piano instructor. Piano teacher, Ms Elisabetta will do individual assessment for each student throughout the class. Keyboard and sheet music will be provided.

A minimum 12 months of prior keyboard instruction and knowledge of keyboard required.

Traditional Japanese paper folding has evolved into a modern art form. The goal of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. Physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines aim to transform the body and mind. Consisting of games, simple poses, rhythmic breathing, and relaxation. Students develop self-confidence, greater concentration, flexibility, and more. Structured for kids in a non-competitive environment. Comfortable clothing required. Mats will be provided or children may bring their own. Taught by certified kids’ yoga instructors.
